Soon, the island is the scene of murders perpetrated by what turns out to be a creature having the appearance of a monstrous dog.
At each of the kills, the horrible scarlet signature is omnipresent: a gecko that is said to be an ominous sign. Inspectors Nicolas Rousseau and Marie Kancel embark on an investigation where witchcraft and popular beliefs will mingle.
